Ambassadors of Dignity Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Wichita, Kansas. Our mission is to build bridges with our immigrant neighbors through practical, relational, and hope-filled initiatives. We collect and use personal data to advance that mission responsibly and transparently.

2. What Personal Data We Collect and Why

Volunteers

  • Data Collected: Name, email, phone number, mailing address, availability, interest areas, and (if applicable) background check results.

  • Purpose: To coordinate reading programs, events, and other volunteer opportunities.

  • Collected Via: online volunteer forms, email, personal contact.

Donors

  • Data Collected: Name, email, phone number, mailing address, donation history, and payment details (via secure third-party processors).

  • Purpose: To process donations, issue receipts, and share impact reports.

  • Collected Via: online via the Donate page, and mailed checks.

Immigrant Story Contributors

  • Data Collected: First name, story content, consent preferences and date of interview.

  • Purpose: To share immigrant experiences with dignity and integrity for education, advocacy, and healing. 

  • Collected Via: Interviews, written submissions, Google Drive documents, etc.

  • Special Note: Unless an immigrant story contributor explicitly requests that their real name be used, we will assign a pseudonym and modify or omit any identifying details in the story to protect their privacy and security. In addition, any other individuals mentioned in the story will also be assigned pseudonyms to safeguard their identities.

Recipients of Aid

  • Data Collected: Name, contact information, nature of the assistance provided, and (when necessary) documentation related to aid eligibility or immigration status.

  • Purpose: To deliver appropriate support, track assistance history, and comply with legal and financial accountability standards.

  • Collected Via: Aid request forms, direct communication, referrals, and internal documentation.

  • Special Note: To protect the privacy of those we serve, we use first names only whenever possible in our internal records. When assisting with the completion of immigration or legal forms, any personal data collected for that purpose will be deleted (or shredded) as soon as the form is submitted. Recipients will be provided with a copy of the submitted information for their own records.

Newsletter & Email Subscribers

  • Data Collected: Name, email address, interaction history (opens, clicks, etc.).

  • Purpose: To share updates, events, and opportunities for involvement.

  • Collected Via: Website forms, Mailchimp sign-up, event RSVPs, etc.

Event Participants & Attendees

  • Data Collected: Name, email, event details, attendance status.

  • Purpose: To communicate about events, share resources, and request feedback.

  • Collected Via: Event registration forms and surveys.

3. How We Store and Protect Your Data

  • All digital data is stored in secure, password-protected systems.

  • Personally identifiable information is only accessed by staff and contractors on a need-to-know basis.

  • Sensitive story content is stored in encrypted folders, and story-related identifiers are deleted post-publication unless otherwise consented.

  • Data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill its purpose or comply with legal requirements.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited data with trusted third-party services solely for the following purposes:

  • Payment processing.

  • Email communications.

  • Cloud storage.
